Hey y'all just wanna put out a warning about a scammer reaching out about buying "completed art" instead of commissions. (You can see the conversation I've included below)
I'm not entirely sure whether it's for the goal of paying for art and then issuing a refund so they scam the artist and "get art for free" or if it's for the purpose of getting art to feed an AI maybe.
I ended up marking it as spam and blocking them but I just wanted to warn you all in case something like this comes up for you as well. The manner of speech and the blog only having a couple posts were the biggest red flags for me, so just be wary so you don't get ripped off too.

scammer alert!
friends and artists alike, please be wary of user @ natalycooper!
they will message you and say they're trying to commission you, and say they'll pay you $200 to draw a picture of their dog for their son - after going through the process, I was lucky to catch the phishing link they sent to my email; it is a scam!
The official Paypal email is from [email protected], the one they send through is [email protected]
When they send this email, it'll claim your account to be flagged as a non-business account and ask you to sign in, which is how they get your information! DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!
Please make sure y'all are being careful out there! It's a pretty subtle looking scam so better to be safe than sorry!

Hey! I just wanted to warn u that the palestine asks are mostly bots or scammers.
how to see if its real or fake
1.check the blog
2.check how long they had the account for
3.if its 7 or less days its most likely a bot
4.Idk how they would have a device and smt to charge it with during a war
5.they delete the account not long after
★Okay, I appreciate you sharing these tips with me- also it does seem quite logical for them to not have a phone. How could it not pass my mind that they don't have any electricity to charge their phone while they are in a war. I really need to stop falling for these asks. Once again, thanks for the advice, I really need to start being on the lookout- /gen !!★

Hey there, thanks for caring about others but the sick cat post by dashandslices/dashandalivee is a scam.
The pet scammer is very frequent on tumblr. They make a new blog, put a few posts on it to seem legit, spam asks to people requesting donations, and then remake when they inevitably get deleted. Remember to try to scroll down to the bottom of a person’s blog, and turn on post timestamps in settings. In this case the person’s blog was created Oct 5, then they created their donation post and started asking for donations within 15 minutes of the first post they ever reblogged.
Also, always be wary of fundraisers that request PayPal payments through “Friends and Family”. There are other ways to receive donations on PayPal but they request this because payments sent through Friends and Family are not protected against fraud, can’t be refunded, and aren’t detected by PayPal as suspicious activity. Never send FaF payments to people you don’t know, because you can’t get it back.
More info on scams like these can be found on Kyra45’s blog or if you just look up tumblr pet scams. When you encounter blogs like these, you could report them for spam or phishing.
Thanks, my dumbass doesn't proof check, but i already changed the post. I'm glad my online banking doesn't work.
I wish i could do something for Squiddie though...
#Scammer warning#Scammer#Scam#Please don't donate to that guy#And fact check... Before you do stuff#I'm the negative example btw#*me realizing my impulsive ass would've sent like... Probs a hundred bucks if it were possible *#Goddamnit im stupid

Sorry for double posting but APPARENTLY those commission scammers have showed up on Tumblr at least for the first time for me.
For those who don’t know what I am talking about, there were/are commission scams going on in Instagram and even places like Artstation where people would pretend to be interested in your work and try to commission a pet or portrait for the sake of trying to get your bank details. Here’s how to (somewhat) sniff them out:
1- They don’t seem to be an average customer/ person that would be involved in your fandom, or has a blank template for an account or don’t even follow you.
2- They ask you to draw a portrait or a pet picture either for themselves or their children/family.
3- They promise to overpay you (in the hundreds) and do not listen to you even if you firmly state the price is cheaper.
4- They are constantly asking for your email name, or private details regarding things like banking details or passwords or other private information others should not know.
5- They try and over reassure you they mean no harm, try to guilt you into giving them the info, or become aggressive over you not giving them what they want.
What should you do if you come across one of these guys? My best advice is to block and report. Sadly these people jump account to account so there isn’t really much to do other than spread this info to prevent artists from being scammed.
#scammers#scam alert#artist scam#pls spread if you can#sadly I’ve seen some folks fall for similar scams#scam#art scam#scam warning#commission scams

Hello help me get insulin for baby Layla today her condition is worsening any little donation will help, am Mwanasiti Heri a house maid in Gaza Palestine am here requesting for financial support for Layla a daughter of myw employer Mrs Hussein who died three days ago after being shot on the chest by the Israel army. Her Daughter Layla is diabetic and she urgently need insulin. Kindly help me purchase insulin for her
Donation link is available on the pinned post
Everyone, this is what seems to be a scammer.
(See this link for a list of red flags of scammer blogs)
The blog is only a day old.
There's something odd about the names. In the ask, it's a 'Mrs. Hussein' (which seems to be a popular family name in Palestine as far as I could google) but in the donation post it's 'Mrs. Khalil' (apparently also a family name in Palestine) - only to end with 'Mrs. Khalil Hussein' as name. However, 'Khalil' is a male name when used as first name.
This is the first interaction between me and them. I have no idea how they found me since I'm not a popular blog by any means, I have not posted anything about Gaza, Palestine, Crowdfunding or the likes, I didn not reblog any popular post and I didn't use a popular tag as far as I'm aware. So how did/would they find me?
Googling 'Mwanasiti Heri' leads to deleted Tumblr-Posts with the very same ask that have been deleted, another now deleted blog named 'kursheniheri' that posted the very same donation post and who apparently sent the very same ask to people AND...a student of Agriculture and Technology from Kenia.
In short: don't donate to this person, be careful when people ask you to donate because there's sadly people who try to get money from kindhearted people, feel free to look at blogs like @kyra45 who dedicate their time to checking suspicious people like this and creating helpful posts about how to post scams and which ones are currently popular on Tumblr.
#scammer warning#don't donate to people like these#no matter how much you want to help the ppl in Gaza

!!BEWARE OF SCAMMER ASKS IN YOUR INBOX INCLUDING THE FISHY PALESTINE ASKS!!
Ever since the #Free Palestine movement, unfortunately some really disgusting folks are using these times as a way to take advantage of people's kindness by pretending to be Palestinian victims and refugees.
If you've been getting these kind of asks in your inbox something along the lines of "Palestine" and a BIG tangent of their life but the blog looks fishy and the profile pic looks stolen? yeah that's too good to be true.
literally no actual person that genuinely needs help is going to directly ask a random person like you in your inbox, a real person that needs help makes a post in general with all of their donation links and never directly asks anyone.
Also majority of the time these scammers will steal real victim's pictures to make it look legit!!! Don't fall for it!!! Donate to actual places and real people!!! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

PSA FOR ALL TUMBLR ARTISTS!!!
On Tumblr there’s these users who will private message you and pretend to be interested in your artwork just so you can tell them your personal information and then steal it from you. It’s usually blank blogs but basically if you provide an alternative way to do an art request that doesn’t involve sharing your private information THEN ITS A SCAM!!! This is the third time I got one of these mfs and the first two times I hadn’t even seen a post informing about the scam. Stay safe gang!!!

PSA: CAT MEDICAL BILL SCAM
Please signal boost this if possible to inform your followers about these scams.
Earlier today, I got a message from the account nicole-loves-king, where they asked me to signal boost a post because their cat needed medical help. Here's the ask:
(And you can see the post in question here)
I looked at this post and was immediately put off because they were asking for people to send things through 'friends and family', which if you aren't aware, is a very insecure way to send someone funds using paypal, because you don't have the protections you would get if you used 'goods and services'. So scammers can make off w your money really easily.
I looked at their blog and scrolled down to the end, and I realized their blog was made today! And, all their posts (there weren't many posts to begin with lol) were of trending topics. I noted puss in boots, and welcome to nightvale among others. This is probably how they found me, because I reblogged some of that stuff recently.
Here's the time stamp from their oldest post (notice it says the time, not the date, which means the post was from today):
In their ask, they also tell you to answer privately. Hm, that seems sus. Why would someone not want you to publish a request for help?
So I have a policy where I don't signal boost posts from brand new blogs because, yknow, they could be scams. I posted this, and the scam account blocked me. They also blocked my friend when they replied to their ask and said their blog looked suspicious. I did some more digging, and I found a comment from someone that confirmed my suspicions:
This is in fact a scam!
@nicstonka is almost identical to the above account (nicole-loves-king). Look at the avatar, the pictures, and the paypal address, both accounts even have 'nic' (as in 'nicole') in the name. The only thing that is extremely different is the name of the cat! Yet both blogs also have the name of the cat in their url ('king' and 'tonka'). That should also be a red flag, because usually someone isn't gonna have the name of their pet in their url, only a few posts, and a signal boost for that exact (fake) pet.
Here's a side by side:
Looks at those paypal accounts: nbrunelle519, and nbrunelle391. Nope definitely not a scam /s
And the cat pictures side by side:
Tumblr's "scam" tag is actually full of these reports now, which you can see here. Or if there's nothing there anymore, click here and here for images.
And links to some older PSAs about other cat scams: 1 2 3
So if you see any blogs like this, where all they have is trending posts, it seems like they've copied and pasted an ask to you, or if they're asking you to send things via friends and family, vet them so so so carefully, because chances are you're walking into a scam. Don't just repost things without carefully checking! If you aren't in a position to check carefully, better safe than sorry: don't repost it! Don't let these scams spread.
Pro tip: If a blog is dash only, so you can't view their archive to see when their first post was made, and you're on desktop, you can just open the blog in its dashboard view, then click 'end' on your keyboard over and over until all their posts are loaded. Usually if it's a spam blog, you'll only need to click 'end' 5-6 times, sometimes a bit more, since they only post just enough times to give the appearance they're active, then there's absolutely nothing after that.
If you want more proof someone is a scammer, you can look at the currency they use their post (or the currency shown in the vet bill), then hover over the paypal link and inspect the part of the url that says 'country.x=AA'. The 'AA' is the abbreviation for the country your money is going to! If that country doesn't match the country of the currency shown in the post, it's a scam! Example: someone's post says '$' for USD/CAD dollars, but the country in their paypal link is 'PH', which stands for Philippines, where they use Philippine pesos, not dollars!
Also keep in mind that these are not bots! There is a real person behind these accounts. They have replied to people who wanted to confirm they were real, but their intentions are still to scam you, they just know it looks better if they reply.
Stay safe!!
Edit:
Updating this post to announce the scammer's made more blogs, and they're probably gonna keep doing it! Here's the list so far. This isn't up to date btw, go to @scamarchive and check their pinned post for the most recent detected blogs
turncoatrune, starlightdisc, xxmy, wxnt, eeyore-pg, coatedpeanbean, starrypanelstars, panelstars, scyllostyle, the-nonbinary-witch, aash-aash, leechness, ash-aahs, commandobutch, lovely-pages, pagefive-to-six, reconnecteed, five-and-fourty, stepsapphic, farmer-butch0, health-pages, turnersapphic, lxve, march-pls-be-good, emberful, imse7en, kassidymaygemz, kassidymaydream, dreamingkassidy, kasdream, live-march, confusedskulll, march-lives, criticaltuesday, quicksilvah, wrldy, quicksilveey, the-stucked-pan, flurrbum, o345, nxce, thls, hokkairi, sykdykee, furrtasticbu, bumfurry, supsense, wickdart, the90sbest
Keep in mind you may not receive an ask like the above ones. You may get something simpler like this, instead:
Most of these are cats, but there's been dogs and even people too.
If you wanna get even more info on all these accounts, there's an archive of this scammer's pinned posts and asks here, so you can see at a glance how similar they all are. You can also see a comprehensive list of scammer red flags specifically for tumblr here!
And lastly, you can report the scams using 'report something else' > 'unlawful uses or content' > 'phishing'

If an account you've never interacted with that has a description asking for money follows you, it is a scam.
I don't care how many photos whose source you have no way of verifying it posts. I don't care how many videos with no way of verifying their location, time of recording, or any other context they try to shove in your face. These are scams; all of them. In fact, there's a good chance that any money they get will be used to actively increase the amount of suffering caused by war, given how many scam operations these days are run out of Russia and supported by the Russian government. These are not people-these are bots. If you wouldn't give money to a blog claiming to be a hot single lady who just wants to get to know you after choosing to follow you and you specifically on tumblr.com, don't give money to a blog claiming to be a Gazan in need of help who has chosen to seek this help by following you specifically on tumblr.com, the most irrelevant social media platform this side of Threads that was sold at a billion-dollar loss because that's how few people are on here.
